Why Landscape Photography?
My photography reflects what I love the most: landscapes that offer you a wide view, mountains, valleys, extraordinary weather and new angles of hidden gems. To be outside, to truly experience nature that is what matters, the photos are a part of the passion. Be outside, do that hike, clear your mind, let that view sink in and maybe then do the shoot. The outdoor experience is always my first priority, my fuel and energy booster.
HOW DO I TRAVEL?
I HAVE TWO FAVORITE WAYS TO EXPLORE: MUNICH IS MY HOME BASE SO I MOSTLY DO DAY TRIPS TO THE BAVARIAN ALPS. AS OFTEN AS TIME ALLOWS I DO ROAD TRIPS THAT LASTS SEVERAL DAYS WITH MY VW BUS OR BY HAVING A RENTAL (OVERSEES) TO SERVE AS MY HOME BASE. AS HIKING IS ALWAYS PART OF MY TRIPS, THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT IS CRUCIAL, LIGHTWEIGHT TRIPODS AND CAMERAS ARE MUST-HAVES. WHILE OFTEN BEING IN THE COLD OR IN THE RAIN FOR HOURS, I RELY UPON EXCELLENT OUTDOOR GEAR. THE PERFECT SHOOT IS AS MUCH A COMPOSITION OF THE LANDSCAPE ITSELF AS IT IS THE ONGOING QUEST TO FIND THE IDEAL BALANCE BETWEEN LIGHTWEIGHT EQUIPMENT, GETTING THERE AND FINDING THE PERFECT QUALITY PICTURE.
HOW DO I WORK WITH MY PICS?
I shoot RAW format, so image editing is a standard part of my process, a process I very much enjoy. It is my goal to edit the pics so they truly reflect my personal experience. I work with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and use luminance masks, focus stacks and time blending. I stay away from morphing.
